About the Service

What is a UPS Access Point™?

A UPS Access Point™ is a local business — typically a convenience store, newsagent, off-licence or phone shop — that acts as a secure location for customers to drop off and collect parcels. Customers can select a UPS Access Point™ at checkout or when returning items. The store receives commission for handling parcels and benefits from repeat visits and increased footfall.

Local & Convenient

Customers choose your shop as their delivery or return point because it fits their daily routine— on the way home, near work, or close to public transport.

Extra Footfall

Each parcel collection or drop-off is a new opportunity for in-store sales — from snacks and drinks to top-ups or phone accessories.

Backed by UPS

You are connected to a global parcel network with clear procedures, nationwide recognition, and strong customer trust.

How It Works

The UPS Access Point™ Journey

A straightforward, step-by-step onboarding process for retailers who meet UPS standards.

Step 1

Eligibility & Location Review

UPS assesses if your store is suitable — opening hours, location, accessibility, and secure space for storing parcels. Busy, well-located shops with regular trading hours perform best.

Step 2

Registration & Documentation

You provide business details, identification, proof of premises, and relevant insurance. Leap-tel helps you understand the requirements and prepare information accurately.

Step 3

Training & System Setup

UPS shares training on parcel acceptance, scanning, ID checks and collection rules. You receive access to the UPS Access Point™ system and guidance on day-to-day operations.

Step 4

Go Live in the Network

Once activated, your store appears as a selectable location for UPS customers during checkout and for returns. UPS may send branded signage so customers can identify your shop easily.

Step 5

Earn Commission & Grow

You earn commission for each eligible parcel processed. Over time, recurring parcel traffic can translate into higher in-store sales and stronger local customer relationships.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions before becoming a UPS Access Point™ location.

Typically convenience stores, off-licences, newsagents, phone shops and similar businesses with regular opening hours and secure space for parcels are suitable. UPS will confirm if your premises meet their requirements during the eligibility check.

For each eligible parcel you accept or hand over to a customer, your shop receives a fixed commission paid according to UPS’s terms. Many retailers find that the combination of commission plus extra in-store sales makes a noticeable difference to monthly income.

UPS generally does not ask retailers to buy stock or pay large setup fees for Access Point participation. However, you must meet the operational requirements and may need basic equipment such as a printer, internet connection and secure storage space. Details are reviewed as part of your application.

Most tasks are straightforward: scan parcels, verify IDs when required, store items in a designated area and follow simple check-in/check-out steps. Staff receive training on the portal and procedures so they can handle parcels confidently and efficiently.
